Why reviews are crucial for dog trainers

Switzerland has more than 551,000 registered dogs. Anyone looking for a class for their dog looks close to home: “Hundeschule in der Nähe” and “Hundeschule in meiner Nähe” (German for “dog school near me”) are searched around 1,600 times a month on Google in Switzerland. Google answers with a map, and the map shows stars. On top of that come mandatory classes. In the canton of Zurich, since 1 June 2025, every owner of a new dog attends a six-hour practical course, regardless of breed or size. Only trainers licensed by the cantonal veterinary office may teach it. The canton publishes the list, also sorted by postcode. Anyone checking it usually finds several names in their area. The next step is Google. People don't pick a dog school on price alone. They hand their animal over to a person and want to know: do they work with patience? Has their method worked with dogs like mine? That is exactly what Google reviews say. “After four private sessions, our dog no longer barks at every cyclist” convinces more than any description of your training approach. But those reviews live on Google Maps, not on your website. Someone landing on your class page sees dates and prices, but no voices from other dog owners. So they go back to Google, where three other dog schools sit right next to you. With the widget, your stars appear right next to the sign-up.

How dog trainers use SwissTrustWidget

Badge next to the class sign-up

The compact badge with stars and review count belongs right next to the “Book a class” button or the sign-up form. That's where the decision is made, and that's where the proof is needed.

Review cards on class pages

Puppy class, adolescent dog class, mandatory course, private sessions: on every offer page, review cards show what other dog owners experienced. You can use the same code on as many pages as you like.

Trust pill for mobile

Many people search on the go, on a walk, phone in hand. A slim trust pill in the header shows the stars on the first screen, no scrolling needed.

Recommended widget templates for dog trainers

Four templates from the widget gallery that suit typical dog training websites.

Compact badge

Stars, average and review count in a small space. Fits next to the sign-up button or in the sidebar of your class overview.

Review cards

Several reviews with name, date and text. For the home page or the “About me” page, where dog owners get to know the person behind the dog school.

Trust pill

A slim bar with the Google logo and stars. For the header, easy to read on small screens.

Testimonial hero

One review shown large. For the landing page of your puppy class or mandatory course, where one detailed voice says more than many short ones.

In the course Nala learned to walk calmly on the lead. Every exercise was explained, never loud, always patient. We can only recommend the mandatory course.

We came with an anxious rescue dog. After four private sessions, Balu walks past other dogs calmly again.

Setup takes under 2 minutes, also on Wix, Jimdo or WordPress.

FAQ

I only have ten Google reviews. Is a widget worth it yet?

Yes. Ten five-star reviews are proof your website doesn't show today. The average and review count update automatically as new reviews come in. There's nothing for you to maintain.

How do I get more Google reviews?

Ask at the end of the last lesson, while the progress is fresh. The easiest way is a QR code on the course handout or a link in the closing email. Don't offer discounts or free lessons in exchange for reviews: Google's policies prohibit it.

My website runs on Wix or Jimdo. Does it work?

Yes. You paste a short code into an HTML element: on Wix via “Embed & Social → Custom Code → HTML”, on Jimdo via “Widget / HTML” or the “Embed” block. This website has a step-by-step guide for both. On Jimdo you need at least the Start plan.

I train on the go and have no training ground of my own. Does that work?

Yes. The widget reads the reviews from your Google Business Profile. Mobile trainers set up the profile with a service area and hide their private address. In your SwissTrustWidget account you then find the profile by searching for its name.

How much does the widget cost?

The widget is free to try, with SwissTrustWidget branding. Without branding it costs a one-time CHF 49 for one Google Business Profile. No subscription, no page view limits, no recurring costs.

Can I hide negative reviews?

On your website, yes: with the star filter you show, for example, only reviews with 4 stars or more. On Google all reviews stay visible. Reply to criticism there calmly, because dog owners read the replies as closely as the stars.

Is the widget compliant with Swiss data protection law?

Yes. SwissTrustWidget is a Swiss product and complies with the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP); data is stored in Switzerland or the EU. Connecting your business needs neither a Google login nor an API key.
